DICKSON, TN – The Creek Wood Red Hawks dominated on both sides of the ball Friday night, beating Harpeth 42-21. The first team offense scored touchdowns on their first six possessions before they were replaced in the second half by a younger unit. The first team defense did its part, holding the Indians to just one first down before they sat out most of the second half.
Creek Wood got a six-yard touchdown run from Garrett Stansberry to open the scoring in the first quarter. They would follow that up on their next possession with an eight-yard touchdown run by Danny Stansberry to give the Redhawks a 13-0 lead.
Harpeth found the endzone immediately after the missed extra point when Davion Primm returned the kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. With the extra point, the Indians trailed 13-7.
The Redhawks would respond with back to back touchdown runs from Danny Stansberry of 46 and 47 yards. It was his third touchdown on the night and he would add his fourth on the next possession when quarterback Mitch Duke found him for a three-yard touchdown catch.
Creek Wood would score again in the second half when Will Secker caught a short pass and scampered 35 yards for another touchdown, their sixth of the night.
With the team up 42-7, head coach Houston Thiel rested his starters and turned to the younger players to finish out the game. Harpeth would score a pair of touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, on passes of 61 and 15 yards from Thomas Sloan.
Creek Wood improves to 3-1 with the win, while the Indians fell to 0-4.
