Creek Wood Gets Favorable Draw for District Tournament

The morning meetings brought good results for the Creek Wood Red Hawks and Lady Red Hawks on Friday, as the Creek Wood girls earned the number one seed in the District 11-AA Tournament off tie-breakers while the Red Hawk boys were a number 2 seed.

As a result, the Lady Red Hawks will host the winner of the play-in game between #8 Hickman County and #9 Fairview. The Creek Wood girls will tip off that win-or-go-home District Quarterfinal game at 6pm on Tuesday night, with the winner guaranteed a spot in the Region Tournament.

The Creek Wood boys will also host their Quarterfinal Game, Wednesday night at 6pm against Hickman County, instead of the RFC Sports Hour.

The losers of those Quarterfinal Games at Creek Wood are done for the season, while the winners are guaranteed at least 3 more games. The boys and girls will play on in the District Tournament Friday and Saturday, and will play in the Regions next week.

With a win, the boys would play the winner of Montgomery Central and Stewart County on Friday night at 8:30pm at Hickman County High School. A win on Friday would mean that Creek Wood hosts the first round Region game next week as well–an added boost, because Creek Wood is hosting the rest of the Region Tournament–while a loss would put them on the road for the first round. The boys’ District Championship game would be Saturday night at 8:30, while the consolation game would be at 5:30.

With a win on Tuesday night, the girls would play the winner of Stewart County and Waverly Friday at 4pm at Hickman County. The same circumstances apply for the girls as with the boys–a win on Friday means they host the first Region game next week, and they already host the rest of the tournament–so more than a spot in the District Championship Game is on the line. The girls’ title game is Saturday at 7pm in Centerville, while the consolation game is at 4pm. Lewis County is the #2 seed and East Hickman the #3, meaning they would play on Friday unless an upset keeps one or both out of the Region Tournament; the winner of that game would be in the District Championship, with the loser playing for third place.
