The Dickson County Cougars and Creek Wood Red Hawks put on quite a show in a home-and-home baseball series over the weekend. Jon Lynn and Gage Pontremoli dueled on Friday night in the Game of the Week, and did not disappoint. Dickson County took an early 1-0 lead, but Creek Wood struck back and took over 2-1. Some late heroics gave the visiting Cougars a 3-2 lead, and though the Red Hawks brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, Pontremoli shut Creek Wood down for a complete game win. The curve ball was nasty as the young righty dazzled in a strong win.
Creek Wood made the series a wash with a 6-4 win in Dickson on Saturday afternoon.
In softball action, Creek Wood and Dickson County were playing in the Waverly Diamond Classic. On Saturday, White House Heritage topped DCHS 2-0, while Creek Wood lost 5-1 to Greenbrier and beat Henry County 2-1 and Harrison County, KY, 8-0. On Friday night, Dickson County beat Greenbrier 1-0, while the Lady Red Hawks beat White House Heritage 9-2 and Bolton 2-0.
The scheduled slate of radio broadcast games for the upcoming week is as follows: Creek Wood baseball Monday night at home against Montgomery Central; CW softball Tuesday afternoon against Camden; Dickson County baseball Wednesday night versus Centennial; and DC softball Thursday afternoon at Summit. All games are weather permitting and subject to change.
