CW Softball Locks Up Region Title

The Creek Wood Lady Red Hawks traveled to Waverly on Wednesday night for a rematch with the Waverly Central Tigerettes, a squad that topped Creek Wood twice on Saturday to take home a District 11-AA Title.

This time, it was the Lady Red Hawks standing tall, as a 2-0 win gave Creek Wood a Region 6-AA Championship. Bailey Griffith pitched a complete game, 3-hit shutout and struck out 8, while the Lady Red Hawk offense was opportunistic and scored 2 unearned runs off Abby Brown.

Creek Wood will host White House-Heritage, which dropped a 5-2 Region Championship game to Greenbrier. The sectional/sub-state game will be played Friday night, and will be heard on the RFC Sports Network (WDKN 1260 AM and 101.5 The One FM). The winner will advance to the Spring Fling State Championship Tournament.

Dickson County lost 11-1 in 5 innings Wednesday night against Brentwood. The Lady Cougars will travel to Henry County for their sectional game; the Lady Patriots topped Mt. Juliet by a score of 11-1 as well. The Dickson County @ Henry County showdown will be played on Thursday night at 6:30pm to avoid conflicts with graduation. That broadcast will also be heard on the RFC Sports Network, as Robert Freeman will be joined by DC Softball alum and current TSU standout Selena Crafton on the call.
