CW Teams Heat Up Offense in District Playoffs

Lennon Spicer proved to be human for the Creek Wood Lady Red Hawks on Tuesday night. She left a pitch up to Caitlin Bradford with 2 out in the top of the second, and Bradford launched it for a solo shot and a 1-0 Camden lead. Spicer would allow other baserunners on the day, but none would ever come back to bite her. Jase Jackson hit a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the third to give Creek Wood the lead, and Lillie Boydston would drive in Bailey Griffith in the fourth while Spicer would ground out in the fifth as Analeigh Coursey put the icing on the cake during the play.

Spicer scattered 8 hits and a walk, going 7 complete innings throwing 100 pitches, striking out 3 but walking just 1. Jackson led the way offensively going 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs. A total of 4 other Lady Red Hawks had a hit each; Creek Wood managed 6 hits in the victory.

Later that night, the baseball Red Hawks made quick work of the Camden Lions 13-3 in 5 innings. A 9 run fourth helped the Red Hawks run-rule Camden. Creek Wood plays against the winner of the Lewis County/Camden losers’ bracket match. The Red Hawks will play that game at 7pm at home, and with a win they would play a second game Thursday at Waverly, with the winner of that elimination game battling Waverly for the title.
