Dickson County girl’s basketball head coach Catie Embrey has announced she is leaving the program to take the same position at Summertown High School in Lawrence County after one season coaching the Lady Cougars.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach girls basketball at Summertown High School” said Embrey in a statement put out on Facebook by Summertown, “the Lady Eagles have established a long tradition of success, and I hope to continue and build on that tradition. Being from Lawrence County, the chance to come home and raise my children here means so much to me. I can’t wait to get to work”.
Embrey was hired in May of 2017, and in her lone season led the Lady Cougars to an 18-0 start to the season. Dickson County ended the season with a 27-5 record and a 53-45 loss to Ravenwood in the R6AAA semifinal to end the season.
“This was the hardest decision of my career. Dickson County embraced me and my family from the moment we got here. I love my girls. I love the school. I love the community” said Coach Embrey, “But the opportunity to go home and be closer to family was something I could not pass up.”
“I truly appreciate my time in Dickson and cherish the relationships I formed. I wish all the best for Dickson County High School”.
