Dickson County seasons come to an end

Monday night, despite valiant efforts, the Lady Cougars and Cougars basketball seasons came to an end.

The Lady Cougars fell at Page in the quarterfinals and the Cougars after winning the play in-game against Spring Hill fell in the Quarterfinals as well of the 11AAA tournament facing Franklin.

Both teams finished sub .500 overall and in the district, the Lady Cougars at 6-13, 5-10 and the Cougars at 5-17, 2-13.

You can see the potential in either squad, however it was youth that doomed them.

Both teams best players were underclassmen most of the season and as we have said all year the Cougars on top of Covid and Gym renovations were trying to replace 12 seniors from last season who won the district.

Next year should be great on the hill though as both teams will now have a full year of experience to pull from.

Players like AC Milam and Jacob Cope will be a year older and, hopefully, get to have a full offseason and fall to get stronger, faster, and smarter.

Also do not discount realignment that will occur.

Dickson County not having to go through Williamson County and schools like Brentwood, Franklin, Centennial, Independence, and Ravenwood will also certainly benefit them.

In the end, congrats go out to every player and coach that hung through this season.

Again we are talking about two young teams that weathered Covid, school renovations, and actual weather to each reach the 11AAA quarterfinals and put up a fight at times in each game.

Congrats to Coach Murrell, Coach Webb, and the rest of the Lady Cougars and Cougars players and staff.

Now go get better and make it further next year!
