After having what can be described as one of the best seasons in school history, the Red Hawks are facing an all too familiar situation.
A 14-0 regular season, a district tournament victory, back-to-back sectional appearances for the first time in school history, and a regional championship appearance.
However, for the second straight season Creek Wood fell to Community in the region tournament final and will have to travel too Pearl-Cohn Monday for their sectional game.
Come Monday the Red Hawks will attempt to change the result though as last season they were unsuccessful on the road at Pearl-Cohn.
There is cause to think they could do it.
This season Creek Wood has seen a lot more competition of a higher level such as Gallatin, Beech, and PJII.
That means they will not be stepping on the court with an incredibly athletic Pearl-Cohn team and have no context for what they are facing.
You can also look just a game ago in the region championship.
Unlike last season, when The Red Hawks were dominated by size the Vikings had, Creek Wood beat themselves with turnovers and allowing Community to hold the ball for long periods of offensive time.
Meaning, Creek Wood on their best night, could beat Community and anyone else in AA basketball.
The Question is, Monday night will the Red Hawks be able to bounce back with a better less ugly performance.
We shall see, but in the meantime congrats to Coach Taylor and his team on a historic season full of firsts or rarities.
The Pearl-Cohn game can be heard on 101.5 the one and WDKN as well as streamed on our app and the tunein radio app beginning with pre-game at 6:45 Monday evening with Colin Castleberry and Robert Freeman.
