It was a zany game filled with defensive errors and offensive production, but the Creek Wood Lady Red Hawks held off East Hickman 9-6 on Tuesday night. East took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Creek Wood tied the game with a 2 RBI single by Lillie Boydston. Three batters later, Analeigh Coursey would give the Lady Red Hawks the lead on an RBI single and Tara Rahman made it 4-2 with an RBI double.
Creek Wood padded the lead with a run in the third and 2 more in the fourth to make it 7-2, before the two sides argued over the margin. Lennon Spicer was stellar on the slab, going 6 complete innings; she allowed 6 runs but only one was earned, while striking out 12. Bailey Griffith needed just 17 pitches to nail down the save.
Boydston and Rahman each had 3 RBI for the Lady Red Hawks, while Coursey and Jase Jackson each led the team with 3 hits. Boydston filled the stat columns, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a run scored. As a team, the Lady Red Hawks had 14 hits and a walk on the night, with only one strikeout.
Elsewhere, Brentwood baseball topped Dickson County 12-6, taking the series from the Cougars, and DCHS boys’ soccer trounced Macon County 6-1. Creek Wood baseball beat Fairview 5-2; the Red Hawks visit Fairview on Wednesday night for a make-up game which will be heard on WDKN and The One FM.
