For the first time since the ’13-’14 season, Creek Wood’s girls basketball team is headed to the state tournament.
A dominating performance over East Nashville in sub-state has led a special group back to Murfreesburo.
It wasn’t always easy.
A year where we weren’t sure if we would have a season, and at any point throughout were afraid it might be called off, led to some crazy moments.
Throughout it all the Lady Red Hawks never flinched though, amassing a 29-5 record overall and a 12-2 regular season district record.
Just being one of the final eight teams in a year like this is accomplishment enough.
But in a year where both Brianna Burgess and Allie Burgess surpassed 1000 career points, both along with Raegan Taylor rank in the top 20 3-point shooters in the state, and the team won both the district tournament and region tournament, they are not satisfied.
Winning state is no easy task, especially when you get a bad draw in the quarterfinals.
Creek Wood will have to begin their state tournament run with a loaded, extremly fundemantal, and talented 32-1 Northview Academy team.
The Cougars (NVA) only loss on the season was too AAA #1 Contender Beardan who also finds themselves in Murfreesboro.
That being said, it is not impossible.
Northview Academy has played a lot of tight games with a lot of great teams so Creek Wood is by no means looking down the barrell of a possible blow out.
It will, however, take a great performance from several players on both sides to come out victorious and I doubt it will be a win by more than four to six points by either side.
Answers will be had starting at 11:15 AM Thursday Morning with Colin Castleberry and Robert Freeman on the Dickson Co-Op Pregame Show.
