2 losses, both to Fairview late in the game, loom large now for the Lady Red Hawks.
After falling earlier this season to the Lady Jackets on the road, everyone had this past Fridays game scheduled.
The Lady Red Hawks put up a great effort, including Brianna Burgess tying the game at 41 with 3.5 seconds remaining. Then they allowed Kelsey Gossage to make a clean drive to the basket and sink the game winning lay-up at the buzzer.
That is the second time Gossage has sealed a victory over Creek Wood this season with under 5 seconds to play.
If and when they meet again, Creek Wood will need to find an answer for the dominant post player.
That being said the Lady Red Hawks proved why they are a force to be reckoned with last night when they completely dominated Lewis County 71-40 in very façade.
In a game where Creek Wood could have easily coasted to a victory over a winless Lady Panther team, they went after them defensively and took aggressive shots on the offensive end.
What that says is that this team is not accustomed to losing and does not take it lightly.
They will begin preparing now for the district tournament which they will host games during until they inevitably meet Fairview again.
If and when they do meet the Lady Jackets, this time I would expect that win or lose, it won’t be Kelsey Gossage who dominates the game.
For now the playoff run will begin Saturday February 13th at 6 pm when the Lady Red Hawks host Waverly in round one of the Region 6 District 11 AA tournament. You can hear it on 101.5 the one and 1260 AM WDKN, as well as the tunein radio app.
