Head coach of the Tennessee Titans Mike Vrabel is 6 feet 4 inches tall, and only eight years removed from his professional playing career as a Pro Bowl linebacker. So, you can imagine Voice of the Tennessee Titans Mike Keith’s nerves when Vrabel stopped him in the hallway to tell him he needed to talk to him in his office.
“For the head coach I’ve got five minutes” said Keith, “but truthfully, I’m scared to death because, I mean he’s big”.
Keith was not in trouble, however, as Vrabel just wanted to present to him an idea. That idea will premiere on Facebook at 7:00 pm Central time on June 19th.
“He said ‘hey I’ve got this idea’, and he was all excited. And its a great idea”.
“Igniting the Fire” will be an online miniseries with a behind-the-scenes look at the Titans in the offseason. Similar to HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, the miniseries will take an inside look into team meetings and practices, as well as include interviews with players and coaches. “It’s not to the full extent of Hard Knocks, but it’s pretty close” continued Keith, “and I think people will really like the insight and the introduction that they get to this football team”.
It was Vrabel’s idea, but the project was spearheaded by Titans Digital Media Manager Ashley Farrell. “Ashley is really creative and talented” said Keith, “a lot of the best stuff you’ve seen from us football-wise has been done by her”.
“The guys know her, they know they can trust her, so they can be themselves”.
According to Keith, the idea of the show is to give fans football during the downtime of the offseason. The Titans have a star-studded set of newcomers acquired through free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft, so fans will certainly enjoy having an in-depth, honest look at the team as they head into the 2018 season.
“Igniting the Fire” will feature six episodes leading up to the start of training camp on July 26th. Every episode will air Tuesday night at 7:00 pm on Facebook Watch.
